David Cameron has today revealed himself as completely out of touch
Lucy Powell MP, Vice Chair of Labour’s Election Campaign, commenting on David Cameron’s speech today said:
“David Cameron has today revealed himself as completely out of touch. He claimed that his plan was working but that will ring completely hollow with working families whose wages haven’t kept pace with their bills over the last five years. There was no recognition that wages are down on average £1,600 since 2010, nor an apology for the NHS going backwards on his watch.
“On the NHS, David Cameron misled people in 2010 and he’s misleading them again today. The truth is the Tories have an extreme plan that would lead them to cut the NHS.
“When he pledges seven-day-a-week care in the NHS, people will remember that he did exactly the same before the last election, only to break his word. After five years of the Tories it’s harder to see your GP and A&Es are in crisis. No wonder he’s even being heckled by Tory members.
“Only Labour will protect and improve the NHS. We will invest £2.5bn, over and above the Tory plans, to recruit 20,000 nurses and 8,000 GPs so the NHS has the time to care.
“The choice at the election is clear: a Tory failing plan or Labour’s better plan for working people.”
